In 1924, Philip Morris introduced Marlboro as a women's cigarette based
on the slogan: "Mild as May". It is most famous for its billboard advertisements of the Marlboro Man.
The Marlboro brand is named after Great Marlborough Street, the location
of its original London factory.
During World War II, however, the Marlboro brand faltered and had to be
taken off the market. Marlboro was reintroduced to the nation in 1955 with the "Tattooed Man" campaign.
Today Marlboro cigarettes are the best selling cigarette brand.
